Scope of Website
mclaransofdalby.com chiefly tells the history of the McLaren/an family in Queensland between 1851 and approximately 1900 in detail and some relevant events prior to emigration. The website also covers McLeoran / McLaran history in Scotland in the late 17th, the 18th and the early 19th centuries - see below.
After 1900, only significant events will be covered because of the rapid expansion of the families in the 20th century.

The families of the three McLeoran siblings have never before been linked in a published document. The American and Victorian families are extensive and it is hoped that in due course McLeoran descendants worldwide become aware of their shared Southend and McLeoran family history.

- extension of the direct line of the McLaran family tree back to the late 1600s;
- widening of the family tree to include the 2 siblings of Malcom McLaran 1800 - 1884;
- the family of Malcolm's sister, Jean McLeoran 1796 - 1869, and their emigration to North Dakota in 1890;
- the family of Malcolm's brother, Archibald McLeoran 1807 - 1884, and their emigration to Victoria, Australia.
