Beyond the Crossing
Beyond the Crossing
is a 1988 update of From Swamp to City by Guy Wade, first published in 1963.

The book is an excellent history of Dalby and covers every aspect of life in the city from around 1850 to 1988. It includes some very interesting photographs and  Donald McLaran is mentioned on several pages.

In Search of Dad's Country
In Search of Dad’s Country, published in 2004 by Dale Lehner*, sparked my interest in McLaran family history. Dale's book covers the period from the 1850’s to 2004 and contains a chapter on Donald McLaran’s family’s activities at Kupunn between 1900 and 1928. It also mentions briefly the early history of Malcolm McLaran’s family between 1853 and 1900.

This Kupunn history may be downloaded from http://minerva.mq.edu.au:8080/vital/access/manager/Repository/mq:33218

*Born Dale Lane, she is my mother's 3rd cousin and is descended and named after the Dale family, who feature in the story of the death of Jane McLaran.

They Once Walked Here
This publication contains written contributions by descendants of Dalby's early settlers. I am unable to comment on contributions by others, but sadly, my own contributions on the McLaran and Stagg families leave a lot to be desired and contain inaccuracies and misunderstandings. A website can be corrected, but not so a printed piece written prematurely and in haste to meet a publishing deadline.
