Some of Isabella McLeure's children
Isabella McLeure 1827 - 1910
Isabella McLeure - early years in Southend
Isabella was born at Feorlin on 28 Jul 1827 and it is probably reasonable to assume her childhood was spent there with her uncle Malcolm McLaran's family. Her mother Jean McLeoran did spend many years in a cottage at Carsky but the timing of the move is not determinable.
Isabella's birth, though illegitimate, was recorded. She was described as "the natural daughter of Samuel McLeure and Jean McLeorin Carskey."
Isabella's first marriage to Alexander Kennedy
In Feb 1847 Isabella married Alexander Kennedy, a cottar (cottager) from Tyree and Coll, an Argyll island community. She had at least one daughter with Alexander.

Isabella's second marriage to Thomas Corlett
Isabella was recorded as a widow when she married Thomas Corlett in May 1857. Thomas was member of the extensive Isle of Man Corlett family. (Everyone with the surname of Corlett has an Isle of Man ancestor on their family tree.) Thomas and Isabella lived in Whitehaven in Cumberland's western region where they raised a family. It was there that her sister Ann Mackay met the father of her first child, miner John Jones.
It appears that the Corletts and their children lived around Whitehaven for the rest of their days.
It is hoped that future research will establish the fate of this branch of the McLeoran family.
It appears that Donald McLaran, who would have known his cousin Isabella very well in his childhood days, honoured her with the naming of his 4th daughter, Margaret Isabella Wilson McLaran 1893 - 1970.
